After watching King of Big Apple and Menace II Society I knew I needed to make urban crime films. In my mind that meant showing a darker aspect of existence where corrupt and cold hearted characters existed in more populated areas. I would have liked to worship director's like Abel Ferrara and The Hughes Siblings . Then I watched State of Grace directed by Phil Joanou and saw how diversified the urban crime category was.

Nowadays any person with a wire connection or a satellite dish can tune into swearing, sex, murder, rape, and pro wrestling without any censoring at all. You know, I do not understand the point to film ratings any more.

I refuse to do a Top 10 Films list. 2nd , when you start micromanaging things to that level it's so subjective as to be incomprehensible. First, I've not seen enough flicks, just a couple of dozen of the films that were released this year to be truthful. Hence we've come up with fifteen Outstanding Film Awards for 2008 that even the most hardcore film buffs could have overlooked, forgotten about, not seen, or plain not have considered at the time.
